i-mate Ultimate 8150

The i-mate Ultimate 8150 is a new (upcoming) pocket pc device from i-mate. The i-mate Ultimate 8150 is part of the new Ultimate series introduced by i-mate. The Ultimate family consists of a collection of five devices in various form factors to suit individual preferences, from classic bar to PDA to a notebook replacement and was designed to provide the latest and best in phone and PDA technology. From the 530MHz processor, to the XGA direct video out, from HSDPA connectivity to the 262k colour VGA LCD touch screen, every component of each device is specified at a very high level. The devices will be available gradually from the second quarter (end) of 2007.

The Ultimate 8150 will be running Windows Mobile 6.0 and will carry an Intel Bulverde processor at 520 MHz. One of the unique characteristics of the new i-mate Ultimate 8150 is its size. The 8150 will be 94mm x 50mm x 11mm. It is really a thin device, just 11mm. A couple of months ago (may be a year) Motorola was promoting the Motorola Q as the word’s thinest Windows Mobile device. The Motorola Q is 11.5 mm thick while the i-mate Ultimate 8150 is just 11mm. Besides the size, the i-mate Ultimate 8150 has a big 2.6 inch touch display with a full number keypad and a five way joystick (below the screen). The 8150 is the choice of those who want a device with the traditional number pad, a big display and the powerfuless of the Windows Mobile 6.0 and the 520 MHZ Intel processor. The i-mate Ultimate 8150 is the response of i-mate to the the ASUS P526, an upcoming device by ASUS with a number pad on the front.

The specifications of i-mate Ultimate 8150 will include Quad-Band GSM / EDGE connectivity and Tri-Band UMTS/HSDPA. The memory of the device will be 256 MB ROM and 128 MB RAM and the expansion slot will be a MicroSD. There will be also support for bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi.
