HTC TyTn and HTC P4350 (Herald) Features comparison

Features comparison of HTC TyTN and HTC P4350.

The HTC TyTN and HTC P4350 are two devices manufactured by HTC that have a similar design; both devices have a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Besides the keyboard there are other similarities and differences between these two devices. Below you can see a comparison of the features of the HTC TyTN and HTC P4350.

Design:
Both devices have a slide out QWERTY keyboard and they have about the same size. The HTC TyTN measures 112.5mm x 58mm x 21.95mm and the HTC P4350
109 x 59 x 17 millimeters. Of course the HTC P4350 is shorter and thinner but the differences are only a couple of millimeters which is not so important. The weight of HTC P4350 is 168g and of TyTN 176g. The display of both devices is 2.8” transflective TFT-LCD, 240 x 320 with 64K colors. The windows mobile buttons and the 5-way Navigation Control is positioned just below the display for both pocket pcs and in addition the HTC TyTN has the HTC Jog Wheel on the side. This is a very useful feature that is also available on the HTC P3600.

Processor:
The HTC TyTN has a Samsung® SC32442A, running at 400 MHz while the HTC P4350 has a TI OMAP 200MHZ processor. This is one of the big differences these devices have. There are several benchmark tests around that can prove that there is a difference in performance between these two processors. The 400 MHZ is one of the advantages of HTC TyTN over HTC P4350.

Memory and Expansion:
In terms of memory and expansion the HTC P4350 and HTC TyTN have no differences. Both devices have 128 MB ROM and 64 MB RAM. They both have a MicroSD memory expansion slot.

Phone Network Support and Connectivity Features:
The HTC TyTN is a 3G enabled pocket pc phone with support for Tri-band HSDPA/UMTS 2100 (EU), 850/1900 (US) while HTC P4350 does not support 3G. Both devices have support for GSM/GPRS/EDGE Quad-band 850, 900, 1800, 1900. Also Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth 2.0 is available on both pocket pc. In addition the HTC TyTN has infrared port while the HTC P4350 does not.

Camera and Applications:
The HTC TyTN has two cameras. One is located on the front above the display. It is a VGA camera used in Video Calling and for self portrait pictures and the second camera is a 2 mega-pixels camera which is located on the back. The HTC P4350 has one camera (2 mega-pixels) on the back of the device.

For bundled applications both devices have the HTC Communication manager, a very simple and useful application that is used to control all the connectivity features on the device. Also both pocket pc’s have applications for pictures and video, ZIP software for handling Zip files on the pocket pc and PDF Viewer for viewing PDF files. In addition to the above the HTC P4350 includes Bluetooth explorer (for file sharing), a backup software and GRPS monitoring software.

Battery:
The battery of HTC P4350 is Lithium-ion polymer, 1130 mAh and the talk time is between 3.5 and 5 hours. The battery of HTC TyTN is Lithium-ion polymer, 1350 mAh and the talk time is between 4 -5 hours. The standby times are up tp 200 hours for the HTC P4350 (GSM) and up to 200 hours for the HTC TyTN (GSM) and upto 250 hours (UMTS).

Price:
The HTC TyTN is sold for aprx 455 GBP and the HTC P4350 for aprx 380 GBP.
